Carlin in the past few days, residents of western Carlin have reported strange activity near the edge of the Ghostlands. Travelers returning from the area speak of cloaked figures roaming the fog-covered paths, muttering in unfamiliar tongues and asking disturbing questions about dark magic, ancient warlocks, and... secret societies.
"They weren't aggressive," said one local hunter. "But they weren’t normal either. One of them asked me if I had ever heard the name Lunimortis like it was some forbidden truth."
Reports claim these figures wear tattered black robes and carry unusual symbols, some resembling eclipses or distorted moons. A shopkeeper from East Lane claims she saw one of the individuals purchase large quantities of ink and parchment “without speaking a single word.”
While no violence has been reported, the eerie silence and unspoken intentions behind these wanderers have left many citizens uneasy.
City guards have increased patrols in the area but advise against unnecessary travel to the Ghostlands until further notice. In a statement, a guard captain dismissed the rumors, calling them "tales for bored merchants," yet confirmed an "unusual uptick in foot traffic" in that region.
Whatever the truth may be, it seems something old and hidden is waking beneath the soil west of Carlin. As always, the Chronicle will continue to observe.
Stay alert. Stay safe. And remember—not all who wander in the dark are lost... but not all should be found.
